When you decide to book a stay in Marrakech it is good to know that two are the main possibilities to be considered regard to the accommodation: the Riad or the Hotel.
The city is dotted by the presence of some of the major hotel chains but also by numerous riads, the typical Moroccan houses converted to a hotel function.
Today we want to focus on the riad, definitely the best choice for those looking for a place where to breathe the most authentic Moroccan hospitality.
These “boutique hotels”, mainly based among the labyrinthine alleys of the medina, are intime oases of peace and tranquility.
An extremely attractive solution is the Riad Dar Darma: an ancient palace of the XVIII century entirely restored in 2007 that combines elegance, intimacy and absolute privacy.
Behind its heavy iron door there’s a world apart, away from the hectic life that takes place in the streets all around.
The interior spaces, organized around two courtyards (a smaller occupied by a fountain and a second one embellished with a tank for collecting water), retain the authentic atmosphere of Moroccan historical buildings combined with contemporary details.
Dar Darma is characterized on the inside by a Moroccan architecture, where traditional pieces and design pieces coexist: hand-painted wood, precious plasters, ancient doors, furnishings and decor with a contemporary taste.
All these features make the Dar Darma absolutely unique.
The inside is distributed on 4 suites (2 Patio suite, the suite of Mirrors and the Orange suite) and 2 apartments (Blue and Red) decorated with the warm colors of Morocco, or embellished with mirrors creating unique lighting effects. The rooms are all spacious and include a big living room and one or two double bedrooms with private bathrooms.
Dar Darma also counts many open-air spaces and spacious terraces from which is possibile to enjoy the beautiful views of the Marrakesh rooftops, a dining area, a sunbathing area with a pool to cool off during the hottest hours while the inners living rooms offer the right atmosphere to relax.
The ground floor, then, hosts the traditional Hammam, a typical element of the Moroccan heritage.
The 24 hours a day available staff is always at disposal to organize the stay in Morocco at its best and the kitchen offers a sophisticated Moroccan home cooking.
