A weekend spent in Tuscany with Johnnie Walker has given us the right inspiration to write a brief guide about “Gentleman’s Journey”. Throughout a series of posts, we will touch different issues to keep in mind before spending a weekend in the countryside.
Firstly, we have thought about suitcase, and some little tricks to pack it, the second content will focus on how to dress in order to be not out of context in fields and vineyards; we will go on with a feature on what to bring along when you are invited to a dinner by acquaitances of friends and, last but not least, we will end with a brief guide to discover Florence.
The introduction to our journey can only start by focusing on what Johnnie Walker whisky means to us.
From the Highlands to the hills of Arezzo.
United Kingdom, Scottish countryside. Outside the mist becomes one with the low clouds dense with rain, inside a gentleman dressed in a night gown is sitting by the fireplace sipping a good glass of whisky.
Il Borro, Tuscan countryside. A young gentleman wearing his best double-breasted suit is drinking a glass of iced whisky while wandering in the hedges of a beautiful Italian garden.
The first lines paint the image that comes to mind as long as my lips and my nose touch my Johnnie Walker glass dissolving into a symphony of tastes and fragrances, evoking aged woods, fragrant citrus fruits, caramel and herbs.
The second ones describe our personal and typically Italian-style idea of drinking whisky.
Johnnie Walker is a true legend which came into being more than 200 years ago in Scotland and today it’s the most popular whisky brand worldwide.
This drink has created a new all-male code, becoming a fully-fledged part of the perfect gentleman’s essential kit.
And what about you? What is your personal image when talking about whisky?
