Summer is a reality, it is happening and we don’t want it to catch us unaware. As every degree rises in the thermometer we dig into our closets trying to get away with the situation successfully. So, here we bring you our key pieces for this summer in what we could call “The Summer Guide for Success”.
1. SHORT SLEEVES SHIRTS
Forget what you have been told you entire last years. Short sleeves have come back and we hope eagerly that they have come to stay. It is a need to take a little time to work on the outfit if you don’t want to transform a well-executed warm-weather look into a calamity in a blink of an eye.
Then, please, nail the fit. There are two main areas you need to take a look at: the sleeves and the shoulders. Wear them slim but not tight: let the seams of the shoulders hit right at or slightly above the point of your shoulder and allow a single finger between the fabric and your arm — we don’t want to waste useless fabric.
Finally, watch the color and prints (specially the last ones) and pay attention on the details: button down collar are the easiest to wear without failure risk, but you can try with point collars or convertibles one, these last ones give a most retro look and is the least formal and versatile. Just watch out and be appropriate to the moment and place.
2. DISTRESSING-LOOSE JEANS
As we pointed up distressing is in for SS16. More voluminous styles are filtering down from the runway to the high street in increasing volume — at least at the more fashion-forward end. Let’s be honest, skinny or spray-on jeans are a difficult and not-for-everybody item. That 90’s look on you may become your must wear in your daily routine.
Roll them up and put together some trendy sneakers from the classics collection: Stan Smith’s or All-Star’s and you will be ready to rock the city.
3. A TROPICAL SOMETHING
Prints are dancing their way across every type of garment, clashing on outerwear, working their way into all over use on tops, bottoms and even on footwear. A certain beachy joie de vivre, chock-full of palm fronds, hibiscus blooms, brilliant-supersaturated sunsets are filling collections of many designers. Make sure this will be the focusing point in your outfit and bring it together with more neutral pieces.
For example, putting together two of our selections: tropical, short-sleeves shirt with plain baggy pants. Avoid following runway total-look print outfits if you don’t want be a sightseeing stop while walking around the city.
4. SLIM FIT SUEDE JACKETS
70’s are in the air since they hit their during A/W 15. Lighter weight suede pieces for the warmer months in the chillier cities have taken place this season. Over everything from a simple, plain t-shirt to formal shirts or other items that contrast with the slim fit would make you look dapper. Get one in any of the season colors and you will rock the trend.
5. METAL MIRRORED SUNGLASSES
Protecting our eyes from the sun is one of the needs of Summer. Revisiting classic models by adding metal mirrored glasses would make your face shine. This is a cool way to update our basic models that suit our face perfectly and we never take off.
6. DENIM + EMBRODERIES
Ripped, patched, bleached — all but destroyed basically: your jeans need to look lived in. Make sure that if they got striking embroderies you don’t get an overloaded look. Also, don’t forget to use denim on your upper pieces and details.
7. A BOMBER JACKET
Bomber jackets are versatile for casual days and keep looks cool and comfortable. Choose this trend with the variety of new colours and materials available to keep things more contemporary or go for one like this reversible that allows you to be edgy or more understated.
8. A PAIR OF WHITE LOAFERS
Shoes and shorts may be the most defining pieces for summer; specially loafers, that are our favourite choice . Brighter colors, lighter materials and mild designs. White is definitely our compulsory color for loafers this summer — slightly sun touched skin and white are like universal references of beach and summer season.
9. PLAIN SWIM SHORTS
Consider combining your plain swim shorts with any of the upper pieces proposed. A retro Cuban collar short sleeves shirt and very simple sandals will make you look properly fashioned for your day.
10. NECK ATTENTION
One of the main accessories for this season are not hats or traditional sunglasses: neckerchiefs are the most important. Tied or folded underneath a lightweight, cotton, crew-necked jumper or allowing it to stand without tying it can give that spontaneous look to the outfit that we definitely love.
What combinations are spinning around your mind?
