The box of wonders.
Looking forward to the new edition of the Journées particulières on 20, 21 and 22 May, we recently previewed the Louis Vuitton atelier of Fiesso d’Artico, the site dedicated to manufacturing the footwear brand production.
An ‘anonymous‘ trunk, so is officially described, lying on the bank of the Brenta river, which houses among its screened windows a knowledge that has been handed down from generation to generation, from father to son.
The factory, designed by architect Jean-Marc Sandrolini, plays on contrasts in a constant alternation between full and empty spaces, light and shadow, transparency and opacity.
If the outside the building looks like a solid box surrounded by a green lawn, once you cross the threshold, it reveals a world of light and transparency.
The factory is built up around a courtyard flanked by a patio filtering and redistributing the natural light to the various workplaces of the atelier.
A place with a metaphysical flavor, sometimes almost mystical, emphasized by the sound of running water, and by the succession of abstract works of art.
This meticulous attention to detail does not decrease inside of the workplace.
Overhead natural light is reflected on the concrete floors of the long corridors that lead to the various workshops (elegant woman, moccasins, sneakers and classic man). Here, in the environments where the shoes are produced is dominated by the white color. White is in fact used for the walls as well as to the machinery so that the eye of the craftsman does not toil. Long wooden planks of flooring then give the workspaces a much more familiar dimension and vibe.
The process of construction of a Vuitton shoe requires numerous steps, from 150 to about 250 work operations, depending on the complexity of the models. Most of these operations are done by hand, by artisans to guarantee symmetry and perfection both inside and outside of the shoe.
If you also want to visit exclusively the atelier of Fiesso d’Artico (on the 21 and 22 of May) and other ateliers the LVMH Group during the new edition of the Journées particulières of 20, 21 and 22 May, we invite you to do your registration here.
