Yes, we have not already enjoyed Spring, but we always look forward to the new upcoming things. So, do not miss this lines if you want to be up to date on the trends in the warmer months of 2016.
1. Graphic and chromatic mix
we are huge fans of neutral palettes, but no for this season. At least do not expect them as main protagonists. Forget about whitening all your home: floral prints, leaves, bronze, fades, vibrant exotic patterns… Wallpaper is reborn as a phoenix that is covering our living room, corridors, dinning room, even some bathroom. Possibilities are as much as your imagination.
As every season, materials take the limelight. Mixing psychedelic colors, exotic influences from South America and the orient with the use of natural materials, industrial pieces and vintage with personality can definitely be a success for you.
This year is going to be the year of the fashion collaboration and we will see ideas from the catwalk being translated into interiors with a range of fashion designer making the jump into the designing for the home. Botanicals will keep being a strong seasonal look not just translated into animal prints and exotic palms but in retro rattans, natural bamboos, painted wood and handcrafted items that give this Wabi-Sabi look (beauty of the imperfect) to the room.
3. Perfect imperfection
The number of demanding designers on their own is increasingly taking personal design to a new level. Bulk made products are no longer something competent for Spring-Summer 2016 interiors. Adapt, integrate and naturalize are the new tasks on the list to cause that custom made feeling, avoiding that formulaic and impersonal design solutions. From tassels and bakestry to macrame and crochet, weaving is in.
Minerals are in. Countertops and tiles are not the exclusive ones made with stone. Pyrite bowls on tables, big chunks of quartz used as display pieces, unpolished semiturned into door pulls, marble on crockery and quotidian elements are a great example of it.
What comes to lightning and detailing, last year ruled metallic effects, but this spring rusty metal, glass and matte paintings with chalk effect imposed. The good news? These finishes are great with metal objects; so you do not have to get rid of your purchases last season. Combine those industrial string light bulbs with your new lampshades.
Furthermore, textiles get this handcraft feeling. Embroidery and woven fabrics are the star this season. You will see on cushions and carpets Guatemalan style designs and Turkish kilim.
