At The Emperor’s Table is the new Valentino‘s book recently published by Maison Assouline, which not only describes the art of cooking, but also the elegance in its presentation. A book that tells how to dress the table, to pamper your guests, prepare refined dishes: an intimate look inside the life of the great fashion designer explained by illustrations of Oberto Gili and an introduction by André Leon Talley.

The output volume was celebrated by an exclusive dinner at Christie’s in New York where there were many names of the fashion world and beyond, lifelong friends of the fashion designer: Hamish Bowles, Andre Leon Talley, Paris Hilton, and Reinaldo Carolina Herrera, Alexa Chung and Laura Paulson. An evening in which Giancarlo Giammetti, Valentino’s right arm has continued to capture smiles, greetings and key moments with his camera always in his hands.
About Giancarlo Giammetti, companion and friend of the fashion designer, has also published a book full of backstory: Private, published by Assouline and presented little over a year ago at Claridge’s Hotel in London. A volume that is a selection of images personally taken by Giammetti and divided into four main sections. The first, Early days, tells his birth during the Second World War, the youth and the first meeting with Valentino, which occurred in 1960 at the Café de Paris in Rome. Then, in The Tribe reach all those people who took part in the life of the couple and the birth and success of Valentino. Work is the section in which it’s said the work done by the author in the Roman fashion house, made of organization, management and driving of the company: a key reference point for the Valentino and for the fashion house. Finally, the Society section collects photographs of all those customers that have become friends and family.
