Defined as “the true rebel of Hollywood“, Marlon Brando has been a symbol of the rebellious youth culture to the rules and conventions, a sex symbol of an America just out of the war, with a strong desire of change.
His chameleon style has changed over the years, in a game in which he has always been the one to making the rules, such as wearing jeans to the first of his movies. A unique charisma and charme, able to make its iconic biker look as fresh as it was.
Marlon Brando was born in Omaha, Nebraska, in 1924, his father was a manufacturer of chemical products of French origin while his mother was an actress. Brando, after the Military Academy of Minnesota, from which he was expelled, he attended the New School for Social Research and then moved to New York where he began his studies in Dramatic Arts. To begin his career was acting under the direction of Elia Kazan in “A Streetcar Named Desire”, which saw him in the role of Stanley Kowalski. During the performances of the show, Brando changed the beats, but Williams, the author of the drama which was made into the stage show and later became a a movie film, was so amazed by his performance to leave him white paper. His first time on the big screen, where he was already a protagonist, took place in 1950, in “Men -My body belong to you”, in which Brando became the first actor follower of “Stanislavsky method”.
In 1953, in order to interpret the “The Wild One” by László Benedek, he attended several youth gangs such as those in the film, while during the audition for “The Godfather” by Francis Ford Coppola, he improvised the perfect makeup for Don Vito Corleone: hair kept back with the grease and forehead shaded with shoe polish. He directed and starred in his only film directed: “The two faces of revenge”. He has been several times candidates for Oscars, he won two for Best Actor, one for “On the Waterfront” by Elia Kazan and one for “The Godfather”.
His private life has been marked by three failed marriages, the first with the actress Anna Kashfi, Movita Castaneda with the second and the third with Tarita Teripia. A number of his relationships, remember that with Pina Pellicier, with actress Rita Moreno, the model Josanne Marianna Berenger and Christina Ruiz. From weddings and relationships, Brando had several children, including some adopted.
The last appearance on the big screen goes back to the year 2001 in the movie “The Score” by Frank Oz, alongside with Edward Norton and Robert De Niro. Marlon Brando died at eighty years old, a little over ten years ago, July 2014 in Los Angeles where he was hospitalized for a respiratory crisis.
