BLUE PLASTIC SANDALS
During our stay in Taormina Phil and I couldn’t resist from buying these pair of plastic sandals we used to see on the beach when we were children.
Sometimes I feel so good when I can go back to my childhood.

No, proprio non mi piacevano e i miei genitori non me li hanno mai proposti.

anche io e di tutti i colori per andare in spiaggia senza tagliarsi i pieid sugli scogli. il problema era, quando uscivi dal mare, che la sabbia si infilava dappertutto e dava un fastidio enorme!
Anche noi li abbiamo presi anche per i sassi di Taormina!

I see you spend great holidays and I’m very happy for you.
Anyway, my comment concerns your plastic shoes, because in France they are an emblem of beach holidays.
Indeed, these shoes are named “Sarraiziennes”, but in France they’re better known by the nickname “Méduse”. They were invented in 1946 by a French cutler living in the mountainous region of Auvergne and gradually, particularly in the 70′s and 80′s, they’ve become an indispensable element for seaside holidays, such as the “espadrilles.
More than a “fashion accessorie”, these shoes are a symbol. For a lot of French, they remind good memories : childhood, seaside holidays, long afternoon at the beach… In final : happy times.
So I wish you to spend happy times in Forte dei Marmi.

Mia madre li chiamava i sandali da tedesco,perche’ i bambini tedeschi li usavano con le calze anche di sera per passeggiare.
I primi li ho acquistati a lampedusa negli anni 80 per camminare sugli scogli e tra i cardi.
Li posseggo ancora oggi
vado a cercarli….

complimenti per il blog e per il post. Quando hai acquistato quel costume di zara? è veramente bello, io non l’ho notato. dici che ancora si trova? riguardo ai sandaletti di plastica, hai fatto bene a prenderli. e’ bello tornare all’ infanzia. sono fashion, ma li hai presi di un colore un po’ troppo sobrio, forse. un colore fluo(giallo, orange, purple o rosa) magari li avrebbe resi ancora più spiritosi. Il mio ricordo di infanzia legato ad un oggetto rivisitato? è un odore che mi è ricapitato di sentire….quello delle salviettine fissan per l’ igiene del neonato e del bambino. per caso, dopo tanto tempo, l’ altro giorno mi volevo rinfrescare e una neo-mamma mi ha prestato queste salviettine che di solito usa per il suo bambino
il profumo m’ ha intenerito.

There was a private lake that my sister and I used to dip our toes in when we were tweens. These sandals remind me of those – simple, but carrying with it so much nostalgia. Great post!
