PARIS FASHION WEEK SUMMARY

Like every season, Paris fashion shows doesn’t disappoint. After all, there should be a reason if everyone is waiting for it, right?

Between all the shows animating the intense final week of February, I was especially waiting for the new rising star Carven, the most beloved by fashionistas Isabel Marant, Louis Vuitton to see the genius of Marc, Chanel (Obviously) and the work of my darling Miuccia Prada for Miu Miu.

I want to start with Carven, a brand that probably some of you never heard of although it was founded in 1945 and revived by Guillaume Henry, ex Givenchy couturier, with the clear intent of rejuvenating the image of the brand as to make it more attractive to the youngest fashionistas. For the 2012-2013 F/W Carven remains faithful to his style and that kind of clothes that made him famous: textured corduroy for skirts and jackets, neutral colors in shades of ocher, coats to wear with shorts according to a true Parisian style, dresses in blended fabrics such as silk and faille and velvet.

Like every year, Monsieur Henry chose a quirky print for silk dresses and for skirts to be matched with denim shirts. If for this spring-summer he played with the theme of the geographic map, in the next winter we will all struggle for a “Medieval peasants women washing clothes” printed skirt.

We will also keep two trends from the current season: the lace and the paisley print in shades of deep blue and dark violet.
I was very disappointed by Isabel Marant show. Left behind the ethnic impressions , Isabel Marant choses to be guided by the rodeo themeAlthough the cowboy theme is highly present in the world of fashion so it’s easy for me to associate it with designers such as Dolce & Gabbana and Dsquared, I’ve never expected to find this in a collection of Isabel Marant, the hippie chic.
But, according to the “Isabel craze”, I can bet that these jeans, shirts, pants and suede boots will be out of stock as soon as they’ll will reach the stores. I was left puzzled by the lack of flash, flair and innovation. Isabel’s remained faithful to her style thanks to the tight pants, pointy shoes, fretwork tops deciding not to risk and not to shine as she usually does.
I would never expect this from such a hippie chic like Isabel Marant
