Few days ago a received at home a super nice gift: a pair of Superglamourous Babouche, a new born brand of superfine handmade shoes. The easy–to–pick–out products are made by Italian shoemakers and the manufacturing process, called "a guanto", consists of sewing backwards each part of the babouche and turning them round again at he result of this long process is a extremely flexible and skintight babouche.
I can't wait for Spring to start to be able to wear them! The design is cool ( a really like the over-size tassels ) and they are comfy to wear.
Are you curious? Let's open the box ( Yes, it's my latest way of saying =D ).

ReplyDeleteHi Filippo,
DeleteYour new Superglamourous’ slippers are very nice (even if I prefer Matthew Cookson slippers) and I really love their "raspberry" color. Like BG, I’m puzzled about tassels' size, but I expect to see these slippers on your feet before giving a final opinion. Especially, I'm curious to see what you'll wear with them.
Otherwise, I like the slippers’ packaging, it looks like a "toilet bag" which brings it a very original's style, a traveler's style. Anyway, it changes from usual simple shoebox.
On the other hand, I'm curious to know why Supperglamourous has named these shoes "babouche". Indeed, I lived in Africa and in North Africa and for me the babouches are the traditional Arab-Muslim world’s footwear… and nothing else. Certainly, the babouches are also slippers, but they have a specific style that has nothing to do with these Superglamourour’s shoes. So, why this name ?
Have a good afternoon.
Big hug :-*
Julien
Dear Julien,
DeleteI speak in behalf of our brand Superglamourous, we named the brand Superglamourous because we would love to convey to our customers special attention to details and particularity of leather used for our shoes, a must have for any fashionista.
The difference between a real shoes and a "babouche" is highlighted in our product that has a fit and a very soft waterproof leather sole, that you can use indoor and outdoor.
Have a SUPERGLAMOUROUS evening!
Andrea
Dear Andrea,
DeleteThank you, but you don’t answer my question. I didn’t ask you why your brand is called superglamourous or what’s the difference between a real shoes and a "babouche" (I lived in North Africa and I know what’s a babouche). I asked you : why did you call your slippers "babouche" ?
Indeed, in my opinion, this name "babouche" doesn't match the image you want for your products. Let me explain. As you wrote, you would like to be « a must have for any fashionista ». So, if I fully understand, to this end, you select high quality materials to product high quality shoes with chic and glamorous’s détails. Right ?
But, in my opinion, a babouche is the opposite of that. As I wrote : "I lived in Africa and in North Africa and for me a babouche is the traditional Arab-Muslim world’s footwear… and nothing else". In addition, when I hear this word (babouche), I think to a product with poor quality. That’s why I don’t understand why you call your slippers : babouche. This word doesn't convey a luxury image.
Of course, it's only my opinion and it's possible that the word babouche doesn't have a negative connotation in Italy. Besides, I would like to have the opinion of other followers about the word : babouche.
Julien
Dear Andrea,
DeleteI just watched your models carefully and I saw that there was no heel, contrary to Matthew Cookson's slippers or Church's slippers, for example. So, I understand why you preferred call your slippers : "babouche" and not "slippers" like the other brands. Indeed, as there is no heel and the sole is in a very soft leather, you can use this "slippers" essentially inside but rarely outside, or only in summer on the beach like the french shoes named "espadrilles". My reasoning is it correct?
Julien
Dear Julien,
Deletewe are so excited that you are so interested about the manufacturing of our products!
Referring to the definition of "babouche", we decided to use this term to describe our shoes not for the quality of the item (that is anything but poor... in fact we are using only finest leathers&details) but for the manufacturing process, called "a guanto", that consists of sewing backwards each part of the babouche and turning them round again at the end exactly like the babouche you were talking about that inspired us.
Another reason for not using the term "Loafers" is the absence of the external heel, aesthetically pleasing item but comfortless.
Our Superglamourous babouche has a 1.5 cm hidden heel and don't want to be an alternative to a everyday shoes but the smartest solution for everyday situations when the luxury comfort cannot be neglected, this is the reason why we sell them to high level business men principally.
Espadrilles is something totally different ;-)
I hope I have met some of your perplexity and thanks again for your interest!
Andrea
Dear Andrea,
DeleteThank you for your explanations but let me return on three items in your explanation:
1 - You wrote : "Referring to the definition of "babouche", we decided to use this term to describe our shoes not for the quality of the item (that is anything but poor... in fact we are using only finest leathers&details) but for the manufacturing process."
I agree with you but I'm not saying that your slippers are bad quality, I'm just saying the WORD "babouche" is synonymous with poor quality. That's why I thought the choice of this word was inappropriate for quality shoes like yours, even if the manufacturing process was the same.
2 - You wrote : "Another reason for not using the term "Loafers" is the absence of the external heel".
I've never talked about "Loafers" ! I perfectly know what are "Loafers" because I wear it for 15 years (especially Crockett and Jones) in addition I've already spoken about "Loafers" on this blog and I see that your slippers are not Loafers. I'm not stupid ! I talked about slippers with a heel such as Matthew Cookson's slippers.
3- You wrote : "Espadrilles is something totally different ;-)".
Thank you for this information ! But I'm French so I perfectly know what are "espadrilles". I never said your slippers looked like espadrilles, but I wrote their USE was similar : you can wear it inside but rarely outside, or just only in summer.
Apart from These Three Points, your answer is perfect for me.
Julien
Note : In addition to use your "slippers" inside or outside in summer, I think they are very convenient during a travel by plane... Especialy for a long haul flight.
they are awesome
ReplyDeleteI'm glad that you like them!!! =D
ReplyDeleteHello julien

DeleteBonsoir BG,
DeleteJe ne sais pas si tu es de mon avis, mais je pense que le nom que superglamourous a donné à ces slippers : babouche, ne correspond pas vraiment à l'image luxueuse que cette marque veut véhiculer. Qu'en penses-tu ?
Merci.
Julien
I m gonna check right now !
Deletebonne soiree
you get the best shoes!
ReplyDeleteJulien
gorgeous! lovely color!
