PIED DE POULE BURBERRY JACKET
A nice vintage jacket always includes a special flavor, able to make an outfit simply unique. It’s a Buberry from my grandfather’s closet that I did rearrange together with the one I showed you a few weeks ago here on the blog. I particularly like the Pied de poule, a pattern recalling the “crow’s foot” for both men and women in all the its variation in size and color (though the couple white / black remains iconic).
Do you know who is the fashion designer that has taken it on the catwalk for the first time?

Innanzitutto grazie per avermi risposto ieri.
Sai esre sempre saggio e spesso molto diplomatico.
Poi vorrei collegarmi al post della’anonimo delle 09:59 per dire un mio pensiero.
Probabilmente non sono nemmeno i Fb ad essere in “lotta” tra loro, in competizione per avere il pezzo dal tale o l’altro stilista, per presentare per primo un abito o un accessorio. Ma sono i giornalisti ed i critici stessi a metterci del proprio per accrescere l’interesse del lettore e care lo “scoop”.
Proprio a riguardo della’articolo citato, quello della Ferré, a me é sembrato effettivamente forzato.

I don’t know who was the first designer who used the pied de poule pattern in the catwalk, who was him/her? I am sure it was someone french or italian… Maybe Balmain, or Yves Saint Laurent? =S I have no idea!

In any case, with its prestigious brands and especially elegant materials, it’s the antechamber of a chic man.
Anyway, your article pays tribute to the classics. Especially Yvi League’s classics style during the 50′s : club collar, knit tie, «pied de poule jacket » and of course Penny Loafers ! Nothing is missing … Except the collar pin ; a tradition that’s making a come-back thanks to Ralph Lauren. A great idea, because a collar pin is very chic and it can change an outfit. It’s a détail, but it can change everything.
In fact, speaking of tradition, I note, your respect of it, by inserting a coin in your penny Loafers’ diamond cutout… A habit for students, in order to use a pay phone, while mobile phones didn’t exist. As the great Samsung Galaxy Nexus !

So to conclude : your article is a fine tribute to Yvi League’s style but, especially, to your grandfather. Indeed, these clothes out of his closet show us the example to follow.. The example of an élégant and a chic man, like your grandfather.

To answer your question : In my opinion, the first fashion designer has taken pied de poule on the catwalk is Christian Dior with his famous “white and black” pied de poule”.

Il pied-de-poule (o, italianizzando, pié de pul) piú che una fantasia é un vero e proprio tessuto, un intreccio che ha diritto e rovescio identici e risulta resistente ma elastico. Già Edoardo VII usava per la caccia giacche a pied de poule. In effetti, nasce come tessuto per capi sportivi, ed é solo nel ’71 che Saint Laurent lo reinterpretó in chiave moderna usandolo per indumenti d’ uso quotidiano. Sull’ onda del successo del pupillo di Dior, subito fioccarono le imitazioni, anche di maggior successo, come nel caso dei tailleur di Chanel.

Mi permetto di puntualizzare su quanto detto da Julien: fu Yves Saint Laurent a riproporre il pied de poule, quando dopo la morte di Dior nel ’57 fu chiamato a dirigere la maison. La collezione é effettivamente per l’ etichetta Dior, ma fu disegnata da Saint Laurent.

In my opinion, me THE FIRST is really CHRISTIAN DIOR, certainly not Yves Saint Laurent. Indeed, Christian Dior created a woman suit with white and black pied de poule in 1938 when he worked for Robert Piguet (Yves Saint Laurent was only 2 years old). Moreover, this woman suit was the first Christian Dior’s best seller and made his success, a long time before Yves Saint Laurent became the fashion’s designer of Dior.

One criticism without argument to explain or justify it, like yours, is synonymous of an intellectual poverty. For my part, I’ve not changed and I repeat you what I’ve already written… But you don’t seem to understand.

C’est sûr, il est plus simple de critiquer sans argumenter… Comme vous le faites.
Je peux parfaitement comprendre que mes commentaires ne vous intéressent pas mais rien ne vous oblige à les lire. Je peux également comprendre que vous critiquiez ce que j’écris, vous êtes libre de le faire, mais dans ce cas prenez au moins la peine de me dire pourquoi ? Argumentez ! C’est une question de politesse et de courtoisie.
Pour ma part, lorsque je donne mon avis (qu’il soit positif ou négatif) j’argumente toujours, ce qui permet à celui à qui le commentaire est destiné de comprendre la critique et le point de vue exposé. C’est une question d’éducation !
